Get An Athletic Scholarship: It’s Not Too Late!

April 29, 2009 by Kenney

Hey, what’s up?

I know it’s getting late in the school year, but I just wanted to let you know that it’s not too late to become a big time recruit and get a scholarship.

I know because I got my scholarship in the summer, and didn’t start my campaign until a few weeks before that.

I just didn’t have all the info I need to get recruited. I thought that if you performed well, they would come. Not so!

You have to do more than that unless you are a blue chip… and even then, you may not get recruited to the school you want to go to.

Get An Athletic Scholarship: Some quick steps that you should take

1. Make sure that your GPA and your SAT or ACT scores are qualifying.

2. Make sure that you register with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

3. Get your name out there…Blast It! Fill out athlete questionnaires and send out letters to colleges and universities that you are interested in and that you think may need an athlete like you.

This will get you started. It’s not too late to get recruited or to get an athletic scholarship. You can do this, but you have to get on it right now!

Do those 3 steps above. I don’t care what your coach has told you, but just because you performed well, the colleges aren’t necessarily going to beat down your door.

You have to understand that they have recruiting budgets and only so much time and resources. They need your help to find you.

Even if you didn’t get a shot to play or perform as much as you would have liked, you can still get on board and either get a scholarship in full or a partial.

Sometimes, you may have to take a partial to get your foot in the door, and get the rest of the money through the FAFSA program or through the school, then do your “thang” when you get there and get a full scholarship the next year.

This is a great time to get started, teams need players and they have to fill some spots. You just need to find the team and program that you like that also needs you.

To Your Success and Happiness,

Kenney
